Impactful Tutoring is about more than just improving grades. It’s about building a trusted supportive relationship from which students can get their questions answered and learn to rewire their educational experience towards one with less stress, anxiety, and suffering — these things are replaced with more ease, achievement, enjoyment, organization, and success.

A better way to learn:

What makes your approach unique?

1. Get more done in less time.
2. Rewire the experience of learning towards one of ease and achievement.
3. Destroy math phobia. Students are never “bad at math” they simply have knowledge gaps or confusion (I’ve never met a case I couldn’t crack).
4. Get a math expert who is skilled teaching every high school subject.
5. Lasting results. Improved grades, confidence, and lower anxiety now and ongoing.
6. More than academic knowledge and skills, we also address the psychology and motivation.

Understanding my approach:

I don’t let students spend time feeling stuck or confused, so development happens quickly and learning feels a whole lot better. I am an expert at noticing knowledge gaps and resolve them in minutes, so that students can find ease and confidence. I’ve taught each concept dozens of times and can explain them in many different ways until things click with the student. Yes, we will boost those grades or SAT/ACT scores. However, long term success in school is about more than just scores. Middle school and high school are formative developmental years. Success in these years tends to accurately predict future success.

How it feels matters. If students spend a lot of time feeling confused, overwhelmed and insufficiently supported, they often develop lasting negative associations towards school and learning. Internalizing an “I can’t” attitude towards learning will not serve in college and beyond. Studies show that when we have interest in something our capacity to learn is expanded. We can learn more at a faster rate and retain the knowledge more deeply. By contrast, when we lose interest or actively dislike school it makes it harder to learn and retain knowledge.

I provide a warm, efficient, supportive environment for learning, where student’s gain the confidence of knowing they are not alone and that they can easily resolve whatever academic challenges come at them. Knowing they have this support at the ready, student’s feel less resistance to school and learning. They become more motivated, more willing to stay organize, and they become happier. The support a student gets (or doesn’t get) throughout middles school and high school will affect their relationship to learning and ability to succeed for the rest of their lives. Critical support during these years lasts a lifetime.

—————

Students often struggle with organization, motivation, and grades. It can leave them feeling stuck, anxious, and wondering if they’re bad at subjects like math. Fortunately, these challenges can be rapidly overcome when support meets their individual needs.

When someone expertly skilled, knowledgeable, and friendly shows up consistently to support, the student’s learning experience is transformed. With over 10 years experience, my students get rapid, effective results. I help students in a way that is impactful : grades, confidence, and much more.

Students get a mentor and academic expert who is invested in working to help them succeed. My approach is informed by
Positive Psychology and in particular  Self-Determination Theory, a powerful developmental psychology framework helpful for teens and adults alike to discover motivation, confidence, and success both in school and in life.

It turns out learning is about more than information, a vital component is relational. This is why the best athletes in the world have trainers and coaches. With the right support, any student can grow towards optimal. Simply put, Dan is awesome. I was struggling with my statistics course and called Dan for some help. He was very knowledgable, patient, and encouraging every step of the way, often having to explain concepts more than once. Somehow he made statistics make sense. I know, I know, is that even possible in statistics? The answer is YES! If you are looking for an effective tutor, call Dan. If I can pass statistics with a B, without doubt, he can help you too!

Have no fear, Dan is here!
